Geetanjali BA in English & Political Science
Hello everyone! I'm Geetanjali Tiwari from New Delhi, India. I recently graduated in English and Political Science, and I'm looking forward to beginning my master's journey.I'm an avid reader, a curious learner, and someone who loves meaningful conversations. I believe that language is more than just words, it's a way to connect with people, exchange ideas, and understand different cultures. That's what I enjoy most about LangClub, and I'm excited to create a welcoming space where we can all learn from one another.

1-minute overview

International diplomacy already depends on multilingual systems rather than a single universal language. At the United Nations, delegates can speak in six official languages and rely on simultaneous interpretation, while many national and regional institutions use additional local languages. This makes interpreters essential professionals, not simply a substitute for leaders’ preparation. Still, a leader who can communicate directly may notice tone, humour, hesitation, and cultural references that do not always travel perfectly across languages.

The harder question is whether this ability should be expected, admired, or formally required. Supporters say multilingual leaders may build rapport, demonstrate respect, and reduce dependence on a small circle of advisers. Critics reply that language-learning opportunities are unequal, fluency can be superficial, and democratic leadership also requires judgment, accountability, and a strong connection to people at home. A useful distinction is between a practical advantage and a fair eligibility test. The discussion can also separate speaking a prestigious global language from protecting minority and indigenous languages within a country.
